Tim’s practice is concentrated on representing the owners of closely-held businesses, professionals, and other high income and high net-worth clients on their business, taxation and estate planning matters. Tim’s clients include companies in construction, manufacturing, agri-business, health care, technology and professional services.
In addition to his law degree, Tim holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation, which he uses to assist his clients in planning intended to avoid, defer or minimize taxes. This is why many clients with estates in excess of federal estate tax exemptions ($11.18 million per individual or $22.36 million per couple) and those with high incomes or appreciating assets have chosen to work with Tim on their business succession, asset protection and estate plans. With Tim’s assistance, a number of his clients have reduced their potential tax liabilities by millions of dollars.
Tim also represents executors, trustees, and other fiduciaries responsible for administering estates and trusts. He has significant experience with the trusts and estates which hold unconventional or illiquid assets, such as operating businesses, oil and gas interests, or commercial real estate, and has overseen the administration of numerous complex trust structures. Similarly, Tim represents clients in probate, trust, and tax contests and litigation.
